It was to be expected that soon after BMW announced plans for their Megacity model, Mercedes would roll out a set of their own depicting their own small electric car. Their version is called the Megacity Mobility (MCM) and Mercedes plans to have it ready to roll in the next few years.
The first rumors for the future Mercedes MCM model suggest that it will be built on the same platform as the next generation Smart ForTwo and will feature an electric powertrain. The model will be designed by the Mercedes’ Japanese design studio and will come with aerodynamic styling.
By comparison, the BMW Megacity will able to seat four people as opposed to the two occupying the Mercedes and will use a massive array of lightweight voodoo to boost the car?s overall efficiency. Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic will play a huge role in the construction of the car and it will most likely be built in BMW?s Leipzig plant. It will also be an electric model set to be released in 2013.
