Teams can host player workouts Thursday (AP)
NBA arenas are about to be unlocked. For the first time since the lockout began on July 1, NBA players are going to be welcomed back to their team facilities, said league spokesman Tim Frank. The league sent a memo to clubs Tuesday announcing the move, plus giving teams permission to begin speaking with agents at 9 a.m.

2012 Dodge Journey, Fiat 500 recalled over contaminated brake fluid

Chrysler has issued a recall affecting a small number of 2012 Dodge Journey and 2012 Fiat 500 models built between October 24 and 26 of this year. These models - about 340 in total - are being recalled due to contaminated brake fluid that was put in during the vehicles' assembly. According to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, these vehicles "may experience a degradation of the sealing components within the brake system."
To solve the problem, Chrysler dealers will replace all of the vehicle's components that come in contact with the hydraulic braking fluid. Of course, this service will be done free of charge, and the official safety recall is expected to begin during the month of December. Follow the jump for NHTSA's official release.

The name ’Prairie’ may not illicit the kind of reaction you’d want in a powerful ATV, but make no mistake, the Kawasaki Prairie 360 4x4 is still one of the most desirable ATVs on the market.
The do-it-all characteristics of the Prairie 360 are made to look better courtesy of a stealthy coating of Realtree APG HD camouflage. An innovative pattern melts into the environment, helping outdoor enthusiasts get to their favorite hunting ground or riverbank without disturbing the locals.
The Prairie 360 4x4 is powered by a 362cc air-cooled, single cylinder, four-stroke engine, a continuously variable transmission (CVT), and a reliable shaft drive. While the engine provides the power of the vehicle, the CVT enables the engine to operate in its optimal rpm range, churning out maximum torque, regardless of the speed or riding conditions. It also offers high and low forward gears plus reverse. When it comes time for extreme conditions, the Prairie 360 4x4 features a Variable Front Differential Control lever that sends out power to both front wheels, ensuring that no situation is too tough for the machine.
With an ATV that carries all these features, it’s important for it to be able to handle the rough terrain, too. Spy Shots: Next Volkswagen Golf out on the move

Last we heard, Volkswagen was reportedly pushing forward the development of its seventh-generation (read: MkVII) Golf hatchback, with the final car being ready for public consumption as early as the end of next year. Our spy photographers recently caught this heavily camouflaged prototype for the new global hatch out testing, and though there's plenty of unknown details, it doesn't appear that the Golf formula has changed too much. (We aren't complaining.)
The size and shape of the five-door hatch looks to be nearly the same as the sixth-generation Golf that we've known and loved since its debut in 2009, but what lies under the hood will surely be different. In addition to the Blue-e-motion model that we've had the chance to sample in sixth-gen skin, new reports suggest that the not-so-great 2.5-liter inline-five base engine will be swapped out in favor of a 1.8-liter turbocharged inline-four. Good deal.
If the Golf is still on schedule to hit the streets at the end of next year, expect to see it show up somewhere in the 2012 auto show circuit.

A new trailer for Automation has made its way to the web. As you may recall, the game allows you to design a vehicle from the ground up with your own chassis, engine and exterior design before attempting to sell the car to the masses as part of your own car company. The game is now officially available for pre-order, which can save you $10 off of the final $30 purchase price. Camshaft Software will even throw in some exclusive content with each pre-order purchase.
Automation makes you the head of a new vehicle company in the year 1946. It's your job to turn your startup into a brand that's recognized the world over by producing the best vehicles possible. We couldn't care less about the business end of the prospect, but the thought of designing our own vehicles from the platform on up is enough to get us excited. Official: 2013 Lincoln MKT shows its toothier grin

The Lincoln MKT has never sold well since it hit the market back in 2010, but Ford is hoping to change that with a refresh for 2013. The three-row Lincoln crossover will receive an all new front fascia with a whole lot more vertical slats in the grille and no more intersecting horizontal bar. The lower fascia has been tweaked to look more rounded at the top, and the fog lamp assembly was made wider and shorter to help give the big ute the appearance of a wider stance.
Engine choices are unchanged compared to the outgoing model, with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost and the 3.7-liter V6 providing motivation. The EcoBoost model will still muster up 355 horsepower, but the 3.7-liter engine will now produce 300 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. That's up 32 ponies from the outgoing model, yet the 3.7 will also be more efficient. Ford says we can expect 17 miles per gallon in city driving and 25 mpg on the highway, up 1 mpg from the 2012 model.
The MKT also receives several ride and handling enhancements for 2013, including Continuously Controlled Damping. The system, which is available only on EcoBoost-equipped MKT models, utilizes 46 inputs to feed data to a control unit that monitors 23,000 packets of information per second. This data is calculated 500 times per second, which helps adjust optimal damping force in only 11 milliseconds.The 2013 Lincoln MKT also features Lincoln Drive Control. This system gives the driver the choice of selecting one of three driving modes. Normal, Sport and Comfort can be chosen using Lincoln Drive Control and the shift lever. In Sport mode, the suspension tightens up 25 to 30 percent to emphasize handling. If a softer ride is your thing, the suspension can adjust to be up to 15 percent softer than the normal setting.
The cabin of the MKT also received several updates, including MyLincoln Touch. The system includes dual 4.2-inch LCD screens in the gauge cluster with five-way steering wheel controls to keep hands on the wheel. The system also includes an eight-inch multi-function LCD touch screen and SYNC.
The 2013 Lincoln MKT will be officially unveiled at the 2011 LA Auto Show later today, and it will go on sale spring 2012.

Chevrolet is preparing to enter the 50th GRAND-AM Road Racing Series Rolex 24 at Daytona from January 26-29, 2012 and they’ve just introduced the car that will be their horse in the race. Los Angeles: 2012 Hyundai Azera goes Fluidic, gets direct injection power [w/video]

The 2006 Azera was the first shot that Hyundai took at going upmarket, a big, soft, front-wheel-drive sedan packed with content and offered at a bargain price compared to the Toyota Avalon and Buick LaCrosse. But today, this Korean import seems more like it comes from the Island of Misfit Toys. Azera has quietly persisted while Hyundai has launched several well-received models, from the Genesis to the 2011 Sonata to the brand-new Veloster. Now comes the Azera's 15 minutes of fame, in the form of a complete overhaul for 2012 designed to make the Azera more of a premium offering.
The new Azera adopts Hyundai's Fluidic Sculpture design language that we've loved on the Sonata, but in this application something went amiss. Everything looks good up front, as the Azera's Fluidic front fascia looks similarly aggressive. But follow the attractive chrome trim strip back from the headlights and something goes bump in the night. The Azera's rear quarter panel retains a bulging character line similar to the old model, except that in the new sheet metal the flanks are even more pronounced - and Buick-like. Things get better out back, as the new Azera has an elegant decklid and rear taillights that wouldn't look out of place on any luxury car.Underhood, the second-generation Azera gets a new 3.3-liter V6 with direct injection. This "Lambda II" powerplant is good for 293 horsepower and 255 lb-ft of torque, while providing an estimated 20 miles per gallon in the city and 29 on the highway. Hyundai has also fitted the new Azera with its Active Eco mode, which should be good for a five-percent boost in fuel economy, according to the automaker. Like the old Azera, power is fed to the front wheels through a six-speed transaxle.
Standard Azera equipment includes some formerly optional content, like a navigation system with rearview camera, and Hyundai is also equipping Azeras with its Blue Link telematics system. Leather interior with heated front and rear seats, 18-inch alloys, and Vehicle Stability Management are all included, as well.
The 2012 Azera goes on sale in February, and while we will admit to being more excited about some of Hyundai's other launches next year (that's you, Elantra coupe) we're certainly not going to complain when we get our opportunity to chew up some comfortable highway miles, Azera style.

Jaguar made a sensational decision in producing the XKR-S Coupe and they have decided it’s time to expand the impressive line-up with the addition of a new Convertible model. The new XKR-S Convertible made its world debut at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show and is the most powerful and fastest open-topped GT Jaguar has ever built.
The convertible uses the same 5.0-liter supercharged AJ-V8 engine as the coupe version. It delivers a total of 543 HP and a peak torque of 502 lbs-ft; enough power to sprint the car from 0 to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds on its way up to a top speed of 186 mph.
Just like the coupe version, the XKR-S Convertible received an impressive aerodynamic package that helps maintain stability in an open-topped car capable of speeds as high as 186mph. More than that, all the exterior changes make the XKR-S look more aggressive and sportier than ever.
