ORLANDO, Fla. -- It took a pair of unlikely four-point plays for the Orlando Magic to win Wednesday night.They must be living right.
The Magic may have struggled offensively through much of the game against the lowly Philadelphia 76ers, but the gods shined upon them at the end, delivering a very rare double treat that allowed them to escape with a 99-98 overtime victory.
Not many NBA games are decided by four-point plays. And the Magic needed -- and got -- two only a few minutes apart.
"That was about as crazy of a game as you'll ever see,'' said Magic coach Stan Van Gundy. "My head is still spinning.''
Magic guard Jason Richardson hit the first 3-pointer and was fouled by Andre Iguodala with :17 remaining, converting the free throw to tie the game at 90 and send it into overtime.
Magic guard J.J. Redick hit the second one with 1:43 remaining in overtime, a 3-point basket in which he was fouled by Lou Williams, turning a one-point deficit into a 3-point lead that they never lost.
"I've never seen that before,'' said Sixers coach Doug Collins. "We give up eight points on two plays and lose a one-possession game. I've just never seen it before.''
