Kobe Bryant to Be First Athlete Honored at Grauman's Chinese Theater

Only in Hollywood, literally, can an athlete be given an honor fit for a celebrity.

But if there is any athlete deserving of such an honor as wacky as this in La La land, it's Kobe Bryant.

The Lakers star and five-time champion will become the first athlete to have his hand and foot imprinted at Grauman's Chinese Theater on Feb. 19, it was announced Thursday.

"To be a part of such elite company is a tremendous honor. I'm proud to be the first athlete to be recognized," Bryant said in a statement.

Bryant will join actors Marilyn Monroe, Brad Pitt, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Will Smith, Harrison Ford and John Wayne on Hollywood Boulevard.

The ceremony will take place the day before the All-Star game, which is Feb. 20 in Bryant's palace, the Staples Center. Bryant is also doing a short film in conjunction with Nike which will also debut sometime that weekend.

Bryant leads all vote-getters and will appear in his 13th All-Star game.
