Quintin Dailey, the former Chicago Bull first-round pick and college All-American, was found dead in his Las Vegas home Monday. The cause of death was hypertensive cardiovascular disease.Dailey, who was 49, was the seventh pick in the 1982 draft after a standout career at the University of San Francisco, where he was two-time West Coast Conference player of the year and an AP All-American. Dailey averaged 14.1 points per game in 10 years as a pro, playing as a Clipper and Sonic after four years in Chicago. He was selected to the 1982-83 All-Rookie team.
While talented, Dailey was also troubled. In 1982, he pled guilty to aggravated assault after an incident in which he allegedly raped a USF nursing student. He received three years probation for that incident, which helped cause the school's basketball program to shut down. He also reportedly violated the NBA's drug policy twice.
