Chevy Cruze Nets Double World Championship

The 22nd and final round of the coveted WTCC (World Touring Car Championship) was held in the gambling hub of Macau this weekend, setting the stage for a Chevrolet world-first. The Chevy Cruze race cars went down in history by being the first ever Chevrolet or GM race outfit to win a double Championship in any FIA sanctioned World Championship series.

After finishing second in Race 1 at Macau, Yvan Muller took the Championship with 331 points ? a full 55 points clear of his nearest rival, Gabriele Tarquini. The weekend proved to have a fairy tale ending to what was a stellar season for the Cruze race cars, finishing on the podium in no less than 21 of the 22 races, also ensuring Chevy the constructors? title for 2010.

Credit also needs to go to Mullers teammates Alain Manu and Rob Huff for their performances this weekend and throughout the season. Unfortunately for Huff, he finished tied on points with Tarquini for second place in the championship, but had to cede the runner up spot to the Italian due to his higher number of victories during the season.

The competition was stiff from other manufacturers that included SEAT diesels and the BMW 320si, making Chevy?s achievement all the more satisfying.
