When Jason Kidd ran into Mike Woodson

Rick Carlisle suggested Jason Kidd might be the smartest player in NBA history after the point guard intentionally ran into the opposing coach, a touch of craftiness that more or less won a road game for the Mavericks in 2010.

In a new video detailing what was going through his head, Kidd says he didn't even know what the relevant rule was at the time.

In the immediate aftermath, he says Dirk Nowitzki's reaction was "you're crazy."

Kidd's point to Nowitzki proved prescient: The referees have to call something, and it was probably going to be something on Woodson, who was not supposed to be on the court.

If nothing else, you have to salute the move as a way to keep coaches off the court in the future.
