Can UConn repeat with Andre Drummond?

"Do I hear repeat."

Those are the words that Andre Drummond posted on his Twitter account as he announced Friday that he would be heading to Connecticut to play this season. Drummond gives the Huskies one of the most coveted freshmen in the nation while instantly boosting their chances at winning another national championship.

UConn adds the nation's second-ranked recruit in the ESPNU 100 to a returning championship cast that includes Jeremy Lamb, Alex Oriakhi and Shabazz Napier.

No, the Huskies won't have Kemba Walker willing them to any more wins, but Drummond provides a 6-foot-10, 275-pound center with lottery-pick potential in the middle alongside Oriakhi and two other young forwards with starting experience in Roscoe Smith and Tyler Olander.

Assuming Drummond does ultimately enroll and qualify, picture coach Jim Calhoun giggling because this was not expected by many. He gets not only a player who tries to emulate Kevin Garnett on the court, but also one who was supposed to be headed to a second year of prep school in Massachusetts after play at St. Thomas More in his native Connecticut. Many believed he would then head to the 2012 NBA draft without ever playing in college.

ESPN's scouting report on Drummond begins like this: "Few players in America (pro or college) have combination of size, athletic ability and skill that he possesses."

That player is now off the board and headed to Storrs after rocking the college basketball landscape in late August. Drummond's commitment will certainly drum up talk of a repeat for UConn.

That might have seemed unlikely without the do-everything Walker, but no one knew the next great UConn player would be so soon walking through that door.
