Ducati rider sets motorcycle record at Pikes Peak with stock Multistrada 1200

While Monster Tajima's 9:51.278 drive was the most notable record-breaking time at Pikes Peak this year, the addition of new paved sections also allowed a new best time to be set for the motorcycle class. Carlin Dunne, the owner of Ducati Santa Barbara in California, dominated the motorcycle division in a stock Multistrada 1200, completing the 12.42 mile course in 11:11.32.

Dunne's fellow Ducati riders didn't fare so well. Six-time winner Greg Tracy fell on the slippery, gravel-covered pavement, and Mark Cernicky, after qualifying second, suffered a flat tire just a few minutes into his run.

The record for an electric motorcycle was also broken at Pikes Peak this year. Chip Yates laid down a time of 12:50.094, besting the record set last year by more than four minutes.
