- I miss this yesterday, but everyone should check out Tom Ziller's Purity Scale for point guards at SB Nation. It shows that not being a pure point guard isn't really a bad thing and that Andre Miller is never as pure as one might imagine.
- Jay Aych at Painted Area is looking at the idea of Detlef Schrempf and Rik Smits being considered for the basketball HOF. Personally, the international player is probably the trickiest HOF candidate to decide. Guys like Tony Parker are going to finish with really good NBA careers to go along with their international influence, what it means to their respective countries and their international play tacked on top of everything. But guys like Schrempf and Smits just haven't done enough overall in my mind to warrant getting in.

- Jeffrey Morton from Denver Stiffs is trying to see what kind of long-term player Denver should be looking for. "So you must, as a team, find a star (because winning in the NBA requires stars) who want's to stay in Denver. People point to Kevin Durant in Oklahoma City, but I keep telling people that he signed almost the same exact contract extension that Melo did after his third year. In the NBA you get paid on your third contract. So it's yet to be actually seen if Durant will choose to stay in OKC when his extension is up. Is there a player out there that would willing spend the majority of their career's in Denver and build a contending team? If so, what kind of player would they be?"
- Over at CBS, Matt Moore thinks there could be enough loopholes for the players to survive a long-term lockout. "The NBPA has been active in preparing its players for this lockout, much more so than 1999. The union distributed a handbook (which I keep imagining looks like the one in "Beetlejuice") that has information on everything from handling the media with their message, to how to conduct themselves around the owners. Most importantly, it talks about saving money."
- In case you missed HoopSpeak Live yesterday, here are the highlights from our segment with Rafe Bartholomew. He even talks about playing with Smush Parker as a kid. Get excited, Lakers fans!
- Nate Drexler at Magic Basketball took a look back at Game 1 of the 1995 NBA Finals and has a lot of great observations. He discusses the Shaq vs Hakeem match-up, the lack of Penny taking over and Nick Anderson not being someone who should be tagged with "losing the game" for Orlando. "I don’t buy that Nick Anderson lost this game for the Magic. Yes, he went 0-for-4 and only needed to make one, but for goodness sake he should not have been in that situation in the first place. Bummer of a way to climax in your career, but I don’t wave the hate flag at Nick. I would have rather seen the Magic hold on to evenpart of a 20-point lead and not have to hit big free throws in the clutch. Still, whether or not he “lost the game” for the Magic, he certainly wasn’t clutch, and man that must have hurt for him a whole lot more than it hurt for us."
