Other details will please diehard gearheads, like the supplemental use of direct injection on top of the FSI, the lightweight aluminum-silicon alloy cylinder head, twin balance shafts, the new thermal management system and the fact that it weighs 11 pounds less than the previous engine and gets better gas mileage.
Other accoutrements just for the S3 include progressive steering and pushbutton launch control, wrapped in a hot hatch that has lost 132 pounds compared to its antecedent.
