Kings Suing for Francisco Garcia's Exercise Ball Incident

Filed under:

Francisco Garcia suffered a broken arm in October 2009 when an exercise ball he was using exploded, causing him to miss 57 games last season. Over a year later, the Kings are suing three companies in connection with the incident.

The team is targeting $4 million -- the amount Garcia was paid by the Kings during his injury -- from Italy-based manufacturer Ledraplastic, ball distributor M-F Athletic Company and Ball Dynamics International.

Roger Dreyer, who's representing the Kings, said the ball -- a Gymnic "Burst Resistant" Plus Stability Ball -- failed to deliver on its name.

"It was advertised to be burst-resistant, but obviously it was not," Dreyer (pictured right explaining how the ball was used) said. "We will be able to prove that, for a very small expense, the ball could've been made more thicker and provided the burst-resistant capacity as advertised."
