As we get set for another hoops-filled weekend, here's a linky look back on the�week that was -- much of which I spent in beautiful Charlotte, N.C., stuck in blizzard-induced travel hell -- at the College Basketball Nation blog: - As always, the stats and research guys updated you on the conference rankings from No. 1 to No. 32. Guess who took the top spot again?
- Andy previewed his top five BracketBusters match ups.
- Illinois somehow stayed in the coaches poll top 25, and I puzzled over the Kansas-Texas-Pittsburgh dichotomy at the top of the poll in this week's Poll Thoughts.
- Weber State won on an last-second 40-footer, and UC-Davis won on a breakaway layup.
- Dana asked what it meant for St. John's to beat Duke at the Garden.
- Mr. Gottlieb gave you his top five teams, one of which (Kentucky) immediately fell prey to the nascent Gottlieb curse.
- Jimmer's mom worried about his safety.
- Our Wednesday blog debate featured a discussion of coach of the year candidates, all of which you can read at this handy link right here.
- Despite the blizzard that grounded me in Charlotte for two days, most of the scheduled college hoops games carried on, even if it took certain teams a "five-movie trip" to get where they needed to be.
- Syracuse got a huge win at UConn to avoid losing its fifth straight.
- Isaiah Thomas met Isiah Thomas.
- Mississippi State continued to be a train wreck.
- Yancy Gates discussed Cincinnati's need for a signature win.
- And, in the surprise of the week -- other than Butler-Youngstown, maybe -- Larry Drew II decided to leave North Carolina in the middle of the season.
The week was quieter than usual on the blog, thanks in large part to yours truly's travel issues. We'll do better next week.
