3-point shot: A-10 settles on 16 games

1. The Atlantic 10 will go with 16 games, not 18, in a 16-team conference next season with the addition of Virginia Commonwealth and Butler. The league will go to 14 teams in 2013-14 when Charlotte and Temple leave for Conference USA and the Big East, respectively. Each A-10 team will play the other once with the exception of one rival, which it will play twice. The league has yet to decide the pairings but some are likely set with Xavier-Dayton, Rhode Island-UMass, Richmond-VCU, St.

Road & Track

Ann Arbor, Michigan, is best known for the University of Michigan, punk rock progenitor Iggy Pop, and foodie favorite Zingerman's Delicatessen. We know, you're wondering why you should care. Well, it's also now home to three of the four major monthly car magazines.

Hearst Corporation has announced that Road & Track will be moving from Newport Beach, California, to Ann Arbor over the summer, joining its other automotive title, Car and Driver. Automobile also calls Ann Arbor home, as does R&T's new editor-in-chief, Larry Webster. He will take over for current boss Matt DeLorenzo on June 4.

Webster had been automotive editor at Popular Mechanics since January 2010, and worked for Car and Driver for years before that. He has a mechanical engineering degree from Lehigh University and counts racing and vintage car restoration among his hobbies. Scroll down to read the full press release.

Noncon games we'd love to see in 2012-13

None of these nonconference games are likely to happen, but that won’t deter us from dreaming up some early season matchups that could really spice things up in November and December. In an ideal world, these are some of the ones we'd like to see in the 2012-13 season ... Indiana at Kentucky: Surely you didn't think we'd begin anywhere else. The drama between the programs has evolved into the most fascinating storyline of the offseason. These two just can’t get along, and we’ll all suffer as a result.

New Illinois assistant's stay proves short

This week, the rebuilding project that is Illinois coach John Groce's mandate became significantly tougher, at least in the short term, thanks to the surprising defection of an assistant coach hired just six weeks ago. On Tuesday night, newly hired Illinois assistant Isaac Chew announced he would be leaving Illinois for a similar position at Marquette. According to Chew, who spoke with ESPN Chicago's Scott Powers via phone Tuesday, the decision was not an easy one, but one he made not only for his sake but for the sake of his family, too: "I really appreciate the opportunity coach Groce gave me," Chew said by phone.
