Audi has taken their E-tron concept a step forward with the unveiling of the E-tron A3 concept - a compact car featuring a powerful electric motor and a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery. Although the concept looks almost identical to the production A3, there are a few elements that will help distinguish it. The concept has received a revised instrument cluster, leather Alcantara seats, a heated windshield, and an optimized air conditioning system.
The E-tron A3 is powered by an water-cooled electric motor that delivers 82 HP, or 136 HP when overtaking, and a peak torque of 199 lbs-ft. The electric engine is powered by a lithium-ion battery, which is housed in several blocks in the luggage compartment floor, under the rear seat, and center tunnel. The battery module stores 26.5 kWh of energy and weighs only 300 kilograms.
The A3 E-tron will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just 11.2 seconds and will hit a top speed of 145 mph. On a single charge, the concept can travel up to 87 miles.
